Building A Stronger Community Through Agriculture.
It's Spring 2023 and we are ready to get growing again for another productive gardening season. Please join us and reserve a garden plot soon before it is too late. The Trailside Foundation is a non-profit organization focused on building a stronger, healthier community through small-scale agriculture.
Trailside uses Southwestern Pennsylvania’s rich, family-focused agricultural history to inspire modern growers, gardeners and small farmers to build healthy, sustainable futures.
In the mid 1700s, Alexander McConnell and his son Matthew cleared and settled Blackwood Farm in Cecil Township, Pennsylvania.
A portion of the farm remained in the McConnell family for seven generations, serving as witness to the evolution of agriculture in the United States.
